September 2025 CAF Meeting Minutes

Thursday, September 11 2025 at Fassler Hall

The meeting was called to order.

Kesha announced upcoming club meetings:

  • October: Professor Bowl, downstairs back room. LRTF Prep Meeting
  • November – Dunbar Community Garden – LRTF appreciation meeting and charity check presentation
  • December – Working on a location. Checking with Homer’s for the Christmas party

Competitions Report (Luke):

  • NZ Pilsner Pro-Am with Rogue Roundabout Winners:
  1. Bo Bennett
  2. Brian English
  3. Kesha and Joe Wood
  • State Fair sorting party tomorrow (Friday September 12) at Brian’s house. Open for all to come help sort entires
  • State Fair judging session #1 Sunday, September 14 at Rogue Roundabout, 10-am to 1pm. Please bring a laptop or tablet as we are doing electronic scoresheets this year. If you don’t have one, please get with Luke as we have a few spares available. We currently have 6 tables worth of judges signed up.
  • Next Saturday (September 20) Judging Session #2 at Southern Tail at 9am.
  • Please check the website (https://arstatefair.brewingcompetitions.com) for details and to register to judge by 5pm tomorrow for Sunday’s judging session at Rogue Roundabout.
  • The December Pro-Am is with Southern Tail, style is Schwarzbier. You might want to get busy planning and brewing those soon!

Education (Dalton):

  • Dalton is out of town, nothing this month. Should have something next month.

Secretary’s Report:

  • We have 3 new members sign up in the past month
  • Carla has taken a new job that requires her to be out of town a lot so she is stepping aside from the Secretary role. Kesha is taking over the duties for now with assistance from Brian.

Little Rocktoberfest:

  • We need more homebrewers to sign up to serve and more volunteers
  • Please see Kesha, she has a signup sheet for volunteers and will be helping to coordinate volunteers
  • Posters: We have posters available (Thank you Graham!). Please take a few to hang up at all of your favorite hangouts around town to help promote LRF
  • Wyndham room reservation reminder: Please call to reserve your room now, tell them you’re staying for Little Rocktoberfest and they will give you the discounted room rate

Kesha made a motion to approve the August minutes. Second by Luke. Approved by unanimous vote.

Ian:

  • The Historical Arkansas Museum is having an event on Friday September 12. Southern Tail and Origami will be serving.
  • Historical brewing: ordering undermodified malts that are air dried as historical malts would be. Starting in October the HAM brewing sessions on Friday mornings will be starting back up.

Moody Brews:

  • September 20th Moody’s will be cooking brats in the square 2pm-6pm
  • Live music later that afternoon
  • New astroturf in the square, it’s very nice and everyone needs to come check it out!
